Lake Forest College Nu Rho Psi named national chapter of the year
Former co-presidents Hridey Kapoor '25 and Nilufar Imomdodova '25
Lake Forest College’s Nu Rho Psi chapter has been recognized by the national body of Nu Rho Psi as the 2024–2025 Nu Rho Psi National Chapter of the Year, an extraordinary honor that recognizes the chapter’s outstanding student leadership, programming, mentorship, and national engagement.
Nu Rho Psi is the only nationally-recognized honor society in the area of brain research.
The Lake Forest chapter’s recent activities included:
- Neuroscience seminars
- Professional development events
- Student research opportunities
- Mentorship across undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels
- Support for students attending the Society for Neuroscience meeting
- Chapter Activity Grant-supported event on “Demure Perspectives on Social Media”

Assistant Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience Hannah Carlson presented a lecture on social media at the “Demure Perspectives on Social Media” event.
These activities were part of the organizations goal to create engaging and educational experiences for students while helping build a stronger neuroscience community on campus.
“This award celebrates the stellar work of last year’s Nu Rho Psi student leaders, especially co-presidents Hridey Kapoor '25 and Nilufar Imomdodova '25, who took the lead on the chapter’s activity grant proposal and the Chapter of the Year nomination. Their initiative, organization, and commitment drove the chapter’s success,” Associate Professor of Philosophy and Neuroscience Paul Henne, the chapter advisor for 2024–2025, shared.
The recognition is especially meaningful because Lake Forest College’s Nu Rho Psi chapter was also nationally recognized a decade ago, receiving the first-ever Chapter of the Year award in 2013–2014. Chapters that receive this distinction are among the most active and leading Nu Rho Psi chapters in the nation.
The national Nu Rho Psi chapter celebrated the College chapter's recognition: “As one of our earliest chartered chapters, Lake Forest continues to support its students through a variety of events, such as Brain Awareness week concluding with the Robert Glassman symposium, featuring student researchers, several seminars, and unique ways to showcase the annual theme; Career Advancement spotlight sessions targeting professional development strategies; and continued mentorship between members."
