Lectures at Lake Forest Place

Information on our partnership

• Lectures at Lake Forest Place are offered three times during the academic year and cover a myriad of topics, including current events, music, science, literature, film, art history, and more.
• Lectures are taught by Lake Forest College professors in 90-minute sessions with a Q&A segment at the end of each session. There is no outside homework or readings required at these lectures.

History of the Lake Forest Place partnership

This sustaining partnership was originally created by former Lake Forest College president, Gene Hotchkiss.

President Hotchkiss, a resident of Lake Forest Place until his passing in June 2025, wanted to bring the talents and robust knowledge of the Lake Forest College faculty to Lake Forest Place. In doing so, he created a program that benefits the Lake Forest Place community of lifelong learners.

In 2020, President Hotchkiss was awarded the Local Legend Award from the History Center of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff. His creation and involvement in this continuous Lake Forest College partner program is a constant reminder of the commitment and dedication of the College to the local community.
