Introductory information about auditing

  • All community members are welcome to apply to audit an undergraduate course at Lake Forest College.
  • Community members who have completed a bachelor’s degree are also welcome to apply to audit a currently offered seminar from the Master of Liberal Studies program.
  • Available courses for auditing are shared on the Available Undergraduate Courses for Auditing page two times per year: Fall semester courses in mid-August and Spring semester courses in mid-December.
  • Tuition for auditing an undergraduate course is $730 per course

Auditing a course at Lake Forest College

  • Community members may audit a listed course once they have submitted the Non-Degree Audit Application form and have received permission from the course instructor to join the class.
  • Auditors are not subject to the requirements of the course (e.g. no assignments, no grades, no course credit) but are expected to participate seriously in class discussions.
  • Examination for course credit is not permitted in an audited course.

Community members with bachelor’s degrees

  • Community members that have completed a bachelor’s degree are eligible to audit both undergraduate and graduate courses with course instructor approval.
  • Community members that have not completed a bachelor’s degree are only eligible to audit undergraduate courses with course instructor approval.
