Supplemental Instruction (SI) is also provided by the SRC for the following courses: BIOL 120, CHEM 115, CHEM 220.
SI sessions are structured, collaborative learning sessions facilitated by peer leaders that are offered multiple times a week to all students in a given course. They focus on “what to learn” (that week’s most difficult and most essential content) and “how to learn” (the skills and approaches to learning that yield the best results). The data (shown below) that we have collected over the last several semesters show that students' SI session attendance is positively correlated with their course GPA (their grades for a given course) -- that is, on average, students tend to perform better in the course the more SI sessions they attend!
