Supplemental Instruction for Science Courses

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a non-remedial program implemented in high-risk courses (those with large enrollments and high DFW rates) to improve student academic outcomes.

SI sessions are structured, collaborative learning sessions facilitated by peer leaders that are offered multiple times a week to all students in a given course. They focus on “what to learn” (that week’s most difficult and most essential content) and “how to learn” (the skills and approaches to learning that yield the best results).
