Lectures at Lake Forest Place

Lake Forest College professors lecture on a variety of topics at Lake Forest Place.

Lake Forest College partners with Lake Forest Place to bring engaging and educational content to the Lake Forest Place residents. These classes, generally offered three times during the academic year, cover a myriad of topics, including current events, music, science, literature, film and art history. Classes are taught by Lake Forest College professor, are a 90-minute lecture-style format, and have a question-and-answer session towards the end. There is no outside homework or reading required.

This program was created by former Lake Forest College president, Gene Hotchkiss. President Hotchkiss, a resident of Lake Forest Place until his passing in June 2025, wanted to bring the talents of the Lake Forest College faculty, along with their robust knowledge to Lake Forest Place. In doing so, he created a program that benefits the Lake Forest Place community of life-long learners. In 2020, President Hotchkiss was awarded the Local Legend Award from the History Center of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff. His creation and involvement of this Lake Forest College program is a constant reminder of the commitment and dedication of the College to its local community.
