Stewart Foley, Lecturer in Finance at Lake Forest College, visits rehearsal
On Tuesday, October 1, Stewart Foley visited rehearsal for Occupy!: Scenes from a Movement
“Last Tuesday, Professor Stewart Foley came to rehearsal for Occupy! to speak to us about the financial situation that essentially caused the protest. I can’t speak for the rest of the cast, but I felt I knew a lot about the protest itself but was less sure of my understanding of the preceding financial meltdown. Professor Foley sat down with us for about an hour and explained to us how the housing market worked (or didn’t work); he clarified how the ‘1%’ got richer and richer, and how Wall Street worked. His description of the events leading up to Occupy Wall Street was one of the easiest to understand I have heard, and we all came away with a much firmer grasp on what caused so many people to move to Zuccotti Park two years ago. Professor Foley gave us a clearer understanding of the events that brought about this protest and how deep the financial crisis truly was.”
