Dozens of girls between the ages of 6 and 14 joined nearly 50 students for the College’s annual observance of National Girls and Women in Sports Day on February 22.

This national celebration began in 1987 as a day to remember Olympic volleyball player Flo Hyman for her athletic achievements and her work to assure equality for women in sports.

Today, National Girls and Women in Sports Day acknowledges the past and recognizes the current and future sports achievements, the positive influences of sports participation, and the continuing struggle for equality and access for women in sports.
