Jana Hengstler class of 2014, was born in Hamburg, Germany and then moved to South Africa for three years and then back to Germany.  When 17, she moved to Rome, Georgia (USA) and attended Darlington School, where she was an active member of student government.  After graduation she moved to Lake Forest College where she is involved in Student Government, Greek life and is an ambassador.

Ich weiß du hast geliebt.                             I know you loved.

Ich weiß du warst da.                                  I know you were there.

Ich weiß du hast gelitten                             I know you suffered

Ich vermiss dich.                                         I know I will miss you.

                                                                                                                                               

Ich weiß du hattest Angst.                          I know you had frightened eyes.

Ich weiß du bist treu.                                  I know you are loyal.

Ich weiß du hattest mut.                             I know you had courage.

Ich vermisse dich.                                       I know I will miss you

                                                                                                              

Ich weiß wie es war.                                    I know how it was.

Ich weiß du warst stark.                              I know you were strong.

Ich weiß wie du denkst.                              I know how you think.

Wir vermissen dich.                                    I know we will miss you.

                                                                                               

Aber was ich nicht weiß…                          But what I don’t know…..                   

                                                                                                 

Ich weiß nicht wie es dir ging.                    I didn’t know how you felt.

Ich weiß nicht wo du bist.                           I don’t know were you are.

Ich weiß nicht; tat es weh?                         I didn’t know; did it hurt?

                                                                                              

Doch eins weiß ich ganz genau:                  But one thing I know for sure:

Wir werden dich nie vergessen.                   We will never forget you.
